2006 SRL Champion

Roseville, CA driver Eric Schmidt finds himself eighth, in the current Spears Srl Southwest TourSeries Standings. But that position does not represent how well the 2006 SRL Champion has performed in 2018. Schmidt opened the season with a fourth place effort at Madera Speedway, while finishing third in the most recent event at the Bullring @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway. A blown motor, at Kern County Raceway, resulted in a 26th place finish, and has been the only blemish on his 2018 record. Schmidt has been fast at each stop on the tour, qualifying second, fourth and tenth in fields that have averaged over 29 car per event..

Schmidt will now head to the Irwindale Event Center, for the “Spears Manufacturing 100 presented by Coleman Powersports” on June 9th. Schmidt had an eighth place finish, in last year’s season opener at Irwindale, but will be looking for his fifth career SRL win.

“Irwindale is an awesome place to race we don’t have any track like that around here or in the country that I know of”, Schmidt told the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series. “We are looking forward to the race next month.”

If his momentum continues, the Sierra Speed and Technology, WAR Racing Shocks Chevy, may be found in victory lane on June 9th.
