MIDWAY POINT OF 2013 SEASON: This weekend’s “The Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Central California 125” presented by AmeriPride at Madera Speedway featuring a Fireworks Spectacular is the fifth of ten events of the 2013 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series championship season.  The second half the 2013 season will feature events at; Rocky Mountain Raceways, Stockton 99 Speedway, Kern County Raceway Park, Pikes Peak International Raceway and the championship finale at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

 

DOUBLE UP:  The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series will utilize a “Double-File” restart format for Saturday night’s “The Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Central California 125” presented by AmeriPride.

 

TRACK RECORD HOLDER:  SPEARS Southwest Tour Series one lap track record holder at Madera Speedway is Jim Pettit with a time of 13.482 seconds, set on March 16, 2013.

 

FANS WIN:  Fans can purchase 50/50 raffle tickets Saturday night; Twenty-four fans will be paired with a SPEARS Southwest Tour Series driver. The fan paired with the winning driver will win half of the cash from the raffle; the other half will be donated to the Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Central California.

 

CHAMPIONSHIP TOP 5:  Two-time series champion, Jim Pettit II leads the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series championship standings, over Ross Strmiska, Jason Gilbert, Jacob Gomes and Jeremy Doss.

 

TOP ROOKIES:  Upper Lake’s Jeremy Doss leads the 2013 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series Rookie-of-the-Year points standings by 11 points over Carson City, Nevada’s Bobby Hodges.

 

YOUNG GUNS:  Jacob Gomes continues to lead the “Flowmaster Young Guns Championship” for all drivers 23 years of age and younger, he is followed by Doss, 19 points back, and Hodges who is 30 points back of Gomes.

 

S2 SERIES: 14-year-old Ryan Cansdale of Laguna Beach leads the SRL S2 Tour Series championship standings after his wins at Irwindale and Las Vegas.

 

LEGENDS: Ricky Schlick now leads the SRL Legends Tour championship with 650 points, followed by defending series champion Darren Amidon at 630, Chad Schug is third, Buddy Shepherd is fourth with Blaine Perkins rounding out the top five.

 

EVENT 411: This Saturday’s race at Madera Speedway will feature the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series, SRL S2 Tour Series, SRL Legends Tour/Legends of the Pacific, LunkerDaddy Late Models, Toyota Sedans and Fireworks.  Opening Ceremonies at 7pm.
