Championship Leader Jeremy Doss

Championship leader Jeremy Doss will lead the Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series into Kern County Raceway on October 27 & 28th for the Bulwark FR175 presented by Coleman Powersports. Doss has scored two SRL victories during the season and leads Eric Schmidt by 40 markers with two championship events to go.

The 2018 and two-time Montana 200 winner will enter the October Classic looking for a victory, to strengthen his grip on his SRL championship lead. It is a strategy he has employed throughout the season.

“From the beginning of the season, my goal was to win every single race, so my mentality isn’t going to change now”, Doss told the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series. “That mindset has gotten me to the top of the points standings, so I feel like that is the best recipe for success.”

Doss has had his share of success at Kern County Raceway with a SRL victory in 2014, and a third place finish in the 2016 Winter Showdown, as well as a Pro Late Model win in 2014. But three consecutive finishes outside the top 20, including a 21st in the SPEARS Southwest Tour’s first trip to Bakersfield in April, will have Doss more determined than ever.

The $7,000 to win event, thanks to the Winner’s Bonus” provided by FLUIDYNE High Performanceand AKM Maintenance, will have an unusual format, for a regular season championship event. The feature will consist of 175 laps, and will be an eight tire event, with controlled pit stops. With the JD Motorsports Team’s experience, at many big shows across the country, Doss is sure adjust to the October Classic format, even though it poses additional challenges.

“It is definitely going to interesting with this new format”, Doss began. “To be honest, I wasn’t thrilled when I first heard about it, but my team and I will be prepared for whatever is thrown at us. It is always great racing with a big field of cars, especially at a big track like Kern, where there is a lot of room to race.”

In less than two weeks, Doss and his Earnest Performance, Performance Friction Brakes, Senneker Performance Ford will test the fast, high banks of Kern County Raceway. Don’t expect his bad luck streak at Kern to continue.
