Garret Archer is preparing for his second SPEARS Southwest Tour Series race in Bakersfield on April 5th, in a continuation of his hunt for the 2014 Rookie of the Year title.  Driving the #21 car fielded by NTS Motorsports at his first race at Madera Speedway on March 15th, Archer qualified 10th and started on the pole thanks to a 10 car invert.  A clean start and a firm but aggressive style kept him running with the more seasoned Tour drivers through 125 laps, leading him to a sixth place finish out of a field of 22 and securing him the points lead ahead of his fellow rookies.

Recording the fourth fastest lap at the Madera race, Archer demonstrated in his first outing that he has the skill and maturity it takes to run with the experienced drivers in the competitive SRL Tour.  He now seeks to extend his successful record on the 1/2 mile oval at Kern County Raceway in Bakersfield.  Although this will be the first time on the Kern asphalt for him, the young driver is well acquainted with running on a track of this size, having spent much of his Late Model career on the 5/8th oval at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington.  With a top notch car setup by the NTS team, Archer is looking forward to a competitive race this Saturday.

“I have heard a lot of good things about Kern County, one of the best tracks on the west coast.” said Garret Archer. “This track is a banked ½ mile. I have competed on similar tracks in the Northwest which I think will help us out this weekend.”

In his second SRL Tour race behind the wheel of the NTS #21, Archer is looking to establish himself not just as the leading Southwest Tour rookie, but as a serious contender in the Southwest Tour as a whole.

Based in Black Diamond, Washington, and driving the #21 car for NTS Motorsports, 17 year old Garret Archer has been a competitive race car driver since he was five, working his way up from Karts to Mini Sprints to Legends to Late Models to arrive at his current position in the SPEARS Southwest Tour.
