Holtz Makes Return to SPEARS Southwest Tour Series

Bakersfield, CA – Southwest Tour veteran Dan Holtz will return to the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series this season, in preparation for a 2016 campaign.

“I’m really looking forward to coming back to compete in the SRL,” stated Holtz. “I’ve had the best times of my life racing in the Tour, and have so many friends I’ve met over the years, it’s going to feel great to be back at the racetrack.”

Holtz, a former Super Late Model track champion at Mesa Marin Raceway and race winner in the NASCAR Southwest Tour, has purchased the Hamke racecar that Jim Pettit drove to the 2013 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series championship.   Championship crew chief Duane Sharp will prepare the car for Holtz’s return.

“I became good friends with Duane (Sharp) and Pettit while racing the Tour, and I’ve always admired their high level of commitment to their racing, so I’m real excited about having Duane prepare the car for our first race back.” Holtz commented.

Holtz plans for his first SPEARS Southwest Tour Series race to be October 17th at Kern County Raceway Park.   He will close the season at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on November 21st.

“The Winter Showdown really motivated us to come back into the series. We always enjoyed the big races and the Winter Showdown is the type of event where everyone brings their ‘A’ game and you better be ready. The higher the level of competition, the better.”

Holtz will compete in the Pro Late Model division at Kern County Raceway Park on two occasions in preparation for his return to the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series.
