In 2015, Jacob Gomes, from Manteca, California became the twelth different champion in the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series 15 year history. Gomes adds his name to the list of series champions that includes; Derek Thorn, Jim Pettit II, Jonathin Gomez, Eric Schmidt, Jason Fensler, Steve Belletto, Jeff Anthony, Nathan Tucker, Dave Byrd, M.K. Kanke, and Ron Strmiska, Jr..

 

With 63 series starts, Gomes is currently ranked third in all-time money won and tied for sixth in all-time wins with six. In 2015, Gomes won twice, had four top fives, and seven top tens in nine starts. He led 127 laps and had an average finishing position of 6.2 on the year in route to his 2015 championship.

 

Gomes and the other top 12 drivers of the 2015 will be honored this Saturday afternoon at Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace in Bakersfield, CA, at the 2015 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series Championship Awards Banquet.
