SRL Announces Legends Car Championship

Bakersfield, CA – 2010 will mark the inaugural season of the SRL Legends Tour.  At eight of the ten SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series events of 2010, the new SRL Legends Tour will compete on the same night at the same track as the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series.  Host tracks for the 2010 SRL Legends Tour will include; All-American Speedway, Orange Show Speedway, Stockton 99 Speedway, The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Madera Speedway and Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.

The 2010 SRL Legends Tour championship will be awarded to the driver who carries an SRL Legends competitor license and accumulates the most points at the eight scheduled SRL events.  Each race will be officiated by the host track or local series, such as the Legends of the Pacific.  Points will be awarded at each race for the SRL Legends Tour drivers and the top 5 drivers in SRL championship points will be honored at the annual SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series Championship Awards Banquet on December 4th at Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace, in Bakersfield, CA.

“So many of our teams have members of their families who race Legends cars and this seems like a good fit for those families to better enjoy the 2010 race season,” stated the SRL’s Larry Collins.  “It will also give Legends drivers the opportunity to chase a touring series championship and we hope to see an increase in Legend car count at our host racetracks.”

Drivers who have already committed to the 2010 SRL Legends Tour include; Austin Reed (son of long time Southwest Tour car owner and sponsor Dave Reed), Cale Kanke (son of 2009 SRL champion, Mike Kanke) and Devan Newberry (sister of SRL standout Brennan Newberry). "I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to be racing in the SRL Legends Tour this year.  It's an honor and a thrill to be racing on the same tracks as my brother." stated Newberry

The SRL Legends Tour inaugural event will be Saturday, March 27th at All-American Speedway in Roseville, CA, which will also feature the NASCAR Camping World West Series and of course the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series.
