California -- When opportunities arise things can happen real fast. Spears SRL
front runner Josh Combs of Sacramento, Ca has had a busy few
days. What was looking to finish as a normal workweek has turned into an
incredible opportunity and a trip to the NASCAR Toyota Shoot out in a K&N
West Series entry.
Early Thursday afternoon Josh was contacted by
Ferarri-Corsaro Motorsports with a request to be in Las Vegas for a test on
Saturday morning. With only a few minutes to provide an answer he accepted an
unknown opportunity. With a very successful and impressive test in Las Vegas,
Josh will be provided an opportunity to compete for long time car owner Bob
Corsaro. In addition to the opportunity to compete for Corsaro, Josh will be
working with the defending K&N Series West Championship team of Sunrise
Ford. Following the test Josh had these comments. ” The test went really well;
the whole team is really excited to get to Irwindale and perform. It is a dream
come true to compete in front of a national TV audience and showcase the talent
that is coming out of the SRL series. Bill (Sedgwick) provided a perfect car
for the test in Vegas and the Sunrise Ford Team can definitely do the same at
Irwindale.”
The sponsors providing this opportunity at the
shootout are GrapeKing, Giumarra Vineyards Corp, Sunrise Ford and Ron's Rear
Ends. Josh wishes to thank his longtime supporters especially Dan Joiner and
the rest of Joiner Motorsports. “Without Dan’s guidance and support, I do not
think I could have been prepared for this opportunity” Said Combs.
Leading the charge in Combs’ bid for an outstanding
shootout showing will be Bill Capriati, Bob Jones and Bill
Sedgwick. For the Toyota Shootout combs will campaign the #9 car
entry. Josh would also like to thank his personal sponsors as well: California
Upholstering, Country Bear, Finishline Racing Equipment, DJ Safety, and Joes
Racing Products. And a special thanks to Grandpa, Grandma, Mom & Dad, Bob
Corsaro, Junior Joiner, Dan Joiner, Bill Sedgwick and Robert Sedgwick.
