·      CHAMPIONSHIP PICTURE:  The championship points standings tightened up at the top after point leader Derek Thorn suffered damage in a lap four incident at Stockton, which ended his race. Ryan Foster and Jim Pettit both went on to score top five finishes.  Thorn leads with 633 points, Foster second with 617 and Pettit third at 611. 

 

·      THE BYRD MAN RETURNS: 2007 SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series champion Dave Byrd will make his first SRL appearance of 2010 this Saturday night at Madera Speedway.  Byrd will be driving the #3 Bob Strandwold Racing entry.  BSR has won three of four SRL events in 2010.

 

·      MOMENTUM:  Coming out of Stockton, drivers who are carrying the most momentum into Madera include; Jonathon Gomez, Pettit, Eric Holmes and Foster, who all bring a string of strong finishes into Madera.  

 

·      CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL:  SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series drivers will be making a visit to Children’s Hospital Central California on Thursday. 

 

·      TEAM CHANGES:  Drivers Kevin Callahan and Kyle Cattanach will be making changes for Madera.  Callahan will fill the seat of the red #88 Motorway Motorsports entry previously filled by Cattanach.  While Cattanach will move to a second Moeller Bros. entry, carrying the number 88k.

 

·      BIG SHOW: Kenny Shepherd and his staff at Madera Speedway have a big show planned this Saturday night featuring six race divisions, a stunt show and fireworks.  The SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series “Laps4LittleOnes.com 125” will headline the event.

 

·      FIRST STARTS:  SRL veteran Jeff Belletto will be making his first series start in three seasons.  Sixteen-year-old Cole Cabrera of Exeter, CA will be making his debut SRL start.

 

·      K&N YOUNG GUNS: Tracy, CA driver Justin Philpott leads the “K&N Young Guns Championship” heading into Madera.  

 

·      ROOKIE LEADER:  Seventeen-year-old Jacob Gomes leads the Victory Circle Chassis Rookie-of-the-Year standings.

 

·      LEGENDS: Darren Amidon took over the top spot in the SRL Legends Tour championship with 690 points, followed closely by Cale Kanke at 685 and Austin Reed with 660.

 

·      NEW VENTURES: Saturday’s race will be the first motorsports marketing venture for both event sponsors, Pocket Radar and Laps4LittleOnes.com.

 

 

The SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series will be in action this Saturday night at Madera Speedway Speedway, in the “Laps4LittleOnes.com 125 ” presented by NTS, Inc and Pocket Radar.
