NTS Motorsports and Parker Stephens Part Ways

NTS Motorsports and Parker Stephens Part Ways

BAKERSFIELD, CA – (July 7, 2016) Changes are in store for the NTS Motorsports stable as the SPEARS (SRL) Southwest Tour Series heads to Madera Speedway on July 16th.   Parker Stephens and NTS Motorsports have mutually parted ways at the mid point of the season. Stephens, the 2015 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series Rookie of the Year, is in his second year of driving for NTS, and is currently fourth in the 2016 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series point standings.

Although it comes as a surprise with Stephens running so well at this point in the 2016 season, it ultimately came down to uncontrollable circumstances that led to this separation. These circumstances unfortunately forced Stephens and his family to make this difficult decision.

“Parker has done a great job for our team over the last couple of seasons and we really felt that we had a team surrounding him that would battle for wins and the championship in 2016,” stated Team Manager Gary Collins. “The team started the year with a second place finish at the Winter Showdown and has only one finish outside the top five all year. Unfortunately, things happen and we felt it was best for both sides to move this direction.” Collins concluded.

As the two current NTS Motorsports teammates, Blaine Rocha (8th in points) and Christian McGhee (3rd in points and leading ROTY candidate), begin to prepare for the July 16th Madera Speedway race, Team Owner Bob Newberry and Collins still plan to field the #28 car for the balance of the 2016 season.

“Gary has built a great nucleus with the #28 team and we plan to keep it intact with crew chief Travis Bennett continuing to lead the efforts. Chemistry is an important element to success and we want to provide that foundation for the next driver that steps into the #28 car.” commented Newberry.

NTS Motorsports plans to bring all three teams to the upcoming SPEARS Southwest Tour Series at Madera Speedway on July 16th.
