Bakersfield, CA – The Winter Showdown and the introduction of the S.E.A.L. engine program into the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series caught the attention of Bakersfield’s Brian Richardson. Richardson, one of the most successful Late Model drivers on the west coast, with track championships at both Mesa Marin Raceway and Kern County Raceway Park, will debut a brand new Hamke race car with a Progressive engine before the season ends as his team prepares for 2016.

“With work and family, we’ve always stayed close to home with our racing, not to mention we’ve always had great race tracks close to home with Mesa and Kern County,” stated Richardson. “Watching the Winter Showdown really got me and my guys talking about taking our program to the next level and see how we might match up against all the top guys who compete in the SRL and those who come out for the Winter Showdown.”

Richardson has scored over 40 main event victories between his days at Mesa Marin Raceway and Kern County Raceway Park, with championships in 2003 and 2014 at his home tracks.

“The Winter Showdown was the coolest event I’ve seen in a long time, it’s a race that if you can win it, you’ll have beat the best in our sport and we look forward to the challenge and plan to give it 100%.”

Richardson just received delivery of his new car and looks to debut it at the October 17th SPEARS Southwest Tour Series race at Kern County Raceway Park.

“We have a lot of laps at Kern County, so it make sense for us to make our first start there. It will be a good gauge for where we are performance wise as we look forward to the February showdown.” Richardson concluded.
