SPEARS Southwest Tour Series Announces 2015 Schedule

SPEARS Southwest Tour Series Announces 2015 Schedule

Bakersfield, CA – The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series will visit seven tracks for ten races in 2015, including the inaugural Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway Park that will pay a record $25,000 to the race winner.

“We are extremely pleased with how the 2015 schedule has come together,” stated the SRL’s Larry Collins. “We try to create a schedule that takes into account many things, such as travel expenses for the teams, well supported quality racetracks, and a sufficient amount of weekends between races.”

In addition to the inaugural Winter Showdown on February 27th and 28th, other new twists for 2015 include a combination race with the Rocky Mountain Challenge Series on September 12th at Rocky Mountain Raceways and a $7,000 to win race at the historic Stockton 99 Speedway on May 2nd.

The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series returns to the very popular summer stop at Redwood Acres Raceway on August 1st.

“There’s not a better place to race in the heat of the summer than at Redwood Acres, which is located along the coast in Eureka, California.” stated Collins. “They had a full house when we raced there in 2013, and we’re looking forward to returning in 2015.”

The Winter Showdown is the first race on the 2015 schedule but is not a championship points race for the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series.

“Our goal for the Winter Showdown is to create an event that teams from throughout the country will come to every year to be part of,” said Collins. “We hope to build the Winter Showdown to match the Snowball Derby, the Summer Showdown and other marquee short track events.”

The ten-race 2015 schedule begins with the Winter Showdown, followed by the first championship points race scheduled at Madera Speedway on March 21st. The series will visit Kern County Raceway Park on April 18th, then Stockton 99 on May 2nd. The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series will return to Irwindale Speedway on June 6th.

After a short mid-summer break, the series will make the trip to Redwood Acres Raceway on August 1st. After a second stop at Stockton on August 22nd, the series will travel to Salt Lake City, Utah for the RMCS combination show at Rocky Mountain Raceway on September 12th.   On October 17th the series returns to Bakersfield’s Kern County Raceway Park, then finishes 2015 with the championship finale at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on November 21st.

“There has never been more buzz and excitement in our office as there is right now. The tracks are excited, the teams are gearing up, new teams are entering the series and the Winter Showdown is off the charts.” Collins concluded.
