SRL S2 TOUR SERIES SET FOR DEBUT in 2013

SRL S2 TOUR SERIES SET FOR DEBUT in 2013

IMG_7415BAKERSFIELD, CA – The inaugural season for the SRL S2 Tour Series is taking shape for the upcoming season. The S2 Tour Series is a new division that will compete under the SRL banner in 2013 and will feature a companion schedule that will be close to that of the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series.

“There has been a lot of buzz about the S2 Tour Series for 2013.  It’s a great race car for the driver who’s ‘graduating’ out of the Legends series or someone that just loves to race, but doesn’t want the hassles of a complicated race car.” commented the SRL’s Brian Olsen.  “We’ve been looking to add another series for a couple years now and the S2 Tour Series seemed to be a perfect fit with our SRL Legends Series and our flagship SPEARS Southwest Tour Series.” concluded Olsen.

In 2010, the SRL Legends Series was formed, which runs in conjunction with SPEARS Southwest Tour Series and is officiated by the host track or local series, such as the Legends of the Pacific.  “To see the growth in competitors in our Legends program over the last 3 years has been amazing.  Chris Carli with the Legends of the Pacific has been very instrumental in helping us grow.  Hopefully, some of that success will rub off on the S2 Tour Series and we’ll see a great car count this season.” stated Olsen

With the 2013 just a few months away, momentum is starting to pick up for the S2’s debut season.  Drivers/Teams committed to compete in 2013 are Ryan Cansdale, Blake Dunkleberger, Cole Glasson, Trevor Huddleston, Performance Motorsports and Darryl Scoggins. S2 Tour Series’ license forms will go out later early next week, so teams can start reserving their car numbers.  A new website is also in the planning stages, so teams can stay up-to-date on all of the series news.

Introduced in 2009, the S2 car was created to allow a young driver moving up to have an opportunity to gain experience in a full-size car, at the same time allowing more experienced drivers the opportunity to compete in a more affordable race car. The concept behind the S2 car is to use the most economical parts and establish rules that keep the cost down. The idea is to offer a full size racecar with a lot of the same ideas that has made legend cars successful nation wide.
