St. Ours Best in Bullring Qualifying

Modesto, CA – 2013 SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series rookie contender Donny St. Ours driving the Jeff Strandwold prepared #1 Eibach Springs/K&N Filters Chevrolet set the fastest qualifying lap of the 29 car field at the Bullring in Las Vegas on Saturday.

“It was nice to see Donny set fast time,” said team owner Bob Strandwold.  “It gave both Donny and Jeff a lot of confidence heading into Saturday night’s main event.  They looked good in practice both days, being close to the top of the board.”

Bob Strandwold Racing (BSR) had a total of three entries for the weekend’s event, with Cody Hodgson in the #0 Ram Mechanical Chevrolet and Troy Ermish returning to the SRL in the Allied Auto #5.  Hodgson qualified in the 8th position, and Ermish qualified the 12th spot.

“I was real proud of all three drivers after qualifying, it was a tough field and to put all three cars in the top 12 was a great feeling.” stated Bob Strandwold.

In the race, Hodgson kept the #0 in the top five the entire race to finish a career best 5th.  St. Ours was just one spot behind his teammate finishing 6th, from his 10th  starting position after the invert was set.  Ermish was caught up in lap 6, eight-car incident that eliminated him for the night.

BSR team members Kelly and Jared Vorse made the trip from Olympia, Washington to Vegas to help Hodgson over the weekend.

BSR’s next SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series race will be June 1st at Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka.
