TOUGH “BRAKE” FOR LOVELACE

TOUGH “BRAKE” FOR LOVELACE

Roseville CA

After 4 races of a 10 race schedule, The Spears Southwest Tour ‘s Zane Lovelace, driver of the #46 Prestige Autobuyers.com/ MotoFX Toyota Camry finds himself 5th in season points, with only 5 points separating him from 3rd position.  The “Blackjack 121” presented by GoLiveStream.TV at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway proved to be a good points race for Lovelace and his team in their pursuit of a series championship.

Qualifying 3rd with a lap time of 14.560 at over 92 MPH, Lovelace would start in 8th position after the invert.  After the green flag waved over the field of 29 cars, the race came to a dramatic stop with red flag conditions on lap 6 for a wreck that involved 7 cars on the front straightaway. Several cars were severely damaged including the 20 car which landed upside down near turn 1. No one was injured and the race resumed after a short delay.

Lovelace would experience trouble of his own on lap 50 when his brakes went away.  “I had to give it 2 or 3 courtesy pumps down the straightaway before braking for the corner, and even then there wasn’t a lot of stopping power.” Lovelace said. With half the race down, Lovelace settled into 5th place. “If we didn’t lose our brakes, I really felt like we could have run farther up front. This was such a fast car, I thought we could have caught the leaders and been there in the end.” Lovelace stated. A late race flat would cause the 3rd place car to pit under green, giving Lovelace the 4th position and finish.

“It was an exciting night, and I can’t thank my team enough for all of their hard work and dedication.” Lovelace said of his team. “Finishing this race in 4th place, bringing the 46 car home without a lot of damage, and moving up in points, I’d say that’s a good night of racing for our team.” he continued.

In just 3 weeks, Zane Lovelace and his 46 team including Crew Chief Ty Joiner, Car Chief John Camilleri, mechanics Stephen Godett and RJ Godett, team owner Zane Lovelace Sr. and spotter Billy Shaul will travel to Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka, CA for the 5th event with the Spears Southwest Tour schedule. The race is scheduled for  June 1st.
