UPDATE AT CMS DEVELOPMENT FOR 2018

Bakersfield, CA – Christian McGhee will sit out most of the 2018 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series to focus on dealing with a reoccurring back issue, along with spending more time with the family business.   McGhee of Claremont was the 2016 series Rookie-of-the-Year and finished third place in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series championship.

“The deal with my back is frustrating, but they say I need to address it now,” stated McGhee. “I hope to be in the 26 car at some point before the end of the 2018 season.”

“The #26 seat will be available when Christian is ready to come back,” stated CMS owner Gary Collins. “We’ll plan on a two car effort at each of the 2018 events, and will bring three cars to the track when Christian is ready.”

CMS has submitted three entries for the Fourth Annual Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway. Oakdale, California’s Blaine Rocha will return in the familiar #21 and will be joined by a driver to be announced in the #29 CMS entry. CMS will also field a Late Model at the Showdown to be driven by Ellensburg, Washington’s Travis Bennett.

“At the Showdown, Blaine will be in the 21, with plans for another driver coming out to drive the 29 for us and we’ve entered Travis (Bennett) in Friday night’s Late Model event.”

Travis Bennett, will continue as crew chief for the #21 of Rocha. Three-time SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series championship crew chief, Duane Sharp, will serve as crew chief for the 29 car in 2018. The CMS team will continue their alliance with Port City Chassis and McGunegill Engines.

CMS Development will have driver developmental programs available for Late Models and the entire SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series in 2018.
