Bakersfield, CA – Andre Michael Prescott last dawned his drivers helmet in the Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series in 2017. The 2016 Rookie-of-the-Year Runner-up will make his return to the series at Kern County Raceway in the “JM Environmental Wild West Shootout – Get It Hot” on June 26th. The event will pay $10,000 to the winner, with an extra $10,000 available to anyone who qualifies into the top eight and elects to start in the rear. Round #6 of the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series will mark the beginning of the second half of the season, and the beginning of Prescott’s return.

Prescott is a  two-time State of California Bandolero Champion with experience in Late Models and Super Late Models at Orange Show Speedway, the LVMS Bullring and Dirt Track, and Irwindale Speedway. He had a best championship finish of third at Irwindale in 2013, while also finishing sixth at “The Bullring” in 2014. Andre had accumulated a total of four Rookie Awards over his career, but fell one position short to Christian McGhee in his debut season with the SRL. It was a season in which he finished 10th in the championship standings.

During an abbreviated 2017 season, Prescott competed in only one SRL event at the Bullring at LVMS. Andre then took a break from racing to concentrate on his career, family, and other obligations. The now 25-year-old driver attempted a return to the track in 2020, but Covid-19 and the issues at the Bullring at LVMS ended those attempts. The 2021 season found the Meza, AZ driver beginning the season at Tucson Speedway., earning three top-five finishes in three events, include two third-place results. He specifically chose the big half-mile at Kern County Raceway, for his 2021 SRL debut.

“I prefer the bigger tracks over the smaller ones the SRL goes to”, Prescott admitted. “Kern is a phenomenal track, one of the best facilities we go to. The racing is great, and always puts a good show on for the fans.”

Prescott made two starts at Kern County Raceway in his rookie season in 2016. He finished 18th and 16th in those two events. He will be bringing his Port City Super Late Model, with a straight-rail chassis. The objective is to have a solid effort to help gather data for future starts in their new car. After being absent from racing for nearly four years, Andre will look to ease back into SRL competition, and complete all the laps in the competitive series.

“My goal for the weekend is to put together a strong run”, Prescot stated. “This will be the fourth real run on the car, so we really just need to build the notebook. I’m excited to get there Friday and log some laps to see where we are. I think a top-10 run would be like a win for us.”

Andre is excited to finally be back behind the wheel in SPEARS Southwest Tour Series competition. He is also thankful for all those who have supported him in this effort, allowing it to become a possibility.

“I have to thank my Mom and Dad, my fiancé Ali Evelyn Stiner, Lane John Keller, Burgeson’s Heating & Air Conditioning, Electrical, Solar & Plumbing and Port City Racecars.”

The June 26th $10,000-to-win “JM Environmental Inc. Wild West Shootout – Round #2” is sure to be a large part of the biggest single day race event of the year at Kern County Raceway.
