Austin Barnes Confident for 2013

Barnes Mad 111

Escondido, CA — Austin Barnes Driver of the #61 Protect the Harvest, LoanMart, Maxima Racing Oil Ford Fusion is feeling confident for a strong showing in the 2013 Spears SRL Southwest Tour series despite a disappointing finish at Madera Speedway in the first race of the season. The Lucas Oil Modified Series 2012 Champion was able to post top ten times in practice and qualified 6th for the main event.  With the invert, Austin started on the outside pole and was on his way to an amazing start when on lap 44 an incident with another driver he was hit in the rear which broke the trailing arm, bent the shock and bent the left rear wheel which sent him to the pits. The crew worked hard to get him back on the track but he was 83-laps down.  Austin came back strong and continued to work hard and was able to post the 3rd fastest lap time of the night.

When asked Austin’s response to the race was, “This is racing and things happen but I feel confident that I our team comes prepared and we will have a strong season.  I’m honored to race with some of the best racecar drivers on the west coast”.  Austin and his crew are looking forward to the next race of the season in Stockton, CA on April 6th.
