Eric Nascimento Jr. will be making his second Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series start when the series visits The New Stockton 99 Speedway on August 18th. The “SPEARS Southwest Tour 125 presented by 51 FIFTY Energy Drink” will also be his second career start at the historic quarter-mile oval. His lone previous start was in the Legend’s Division where he finished fifth overall and second in the Young Lyons.

The East Union High School student from Manteca, will be making his first Late Model start, of any kind, at the venerable speedway. It will also be a very busy weekend for the 17 year-old high school senior. Nascimento will be unable to attend Friday night’s practice session, as he will be participating in the season opener for his high school team. He will be a lineman, playing on both offense and defense.

“I’m excited to race at my home track, Stockton 99 Speedway, against
some of the best drivers on the West Coast”, Nascimento Jr. told the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series. “Ross Strmiska will be practicing my car on Friday night, and getting it tuned up for me on Saturday. I have my first high school football game, for East Union High School, preventing me from attending Friday.”

Eric continued, “Jacob Gomes, an SRL regular and Stockton 99 favorite, spotted for me at my last Madera Late Model race, so I know he will give me some tips, that will help me get around the track if I struggle. I also tested one of our Madera Late Models there, a couple weeks ago. So I do have some laps in a full size car on the track. The track was very fun to drive.”

With his limited experience at the New Stockton 99 Speedway, Nascimento knows it will be a test of his skills. But he is excited for the opportunity to race in a Super Late Model at the facility.

“My one and only start at ’99’ was in a Legend Car in 2016, before I moved to Junior Late Models at Madera Speedway“, Nascimento recalled. “I know it’s going to be a challenge just to make the race, with the tough competition this race brings, but I wouldn’t change this opportunity for anything. I can’t thank the whole Nascimento Motorsports Team. They have been working hard to get the car changed over, and ready for this event. The finishing touches will be made over the next few days.”

Nascimento Jr. is thrilled to be able to race in front of his friends and family. It is an opportunity to race close to home for the young racer.

“I’m excited to race so close to home and make it easy for many of my friends and family come support me in what I love to do! My hometown of Manteca is just 15 minutes away from Stockton 99 Speedway, and I know I will have a lot of people cheering for me.”
