DOSS RETURNS TO SRL

DOSS RETURNS TO SRL

The 2018 season is shaping up to be one of the most competitive seasons in Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series history. Between a large rookie class, returning series veterans and young guns, as well as former series competitors returning to action, the “2018 Championship Opener presented 51 FIFTY Energy Drink” at Madera Speedway is expected to be highly competitive. One of those returning competitors is 2013 SRL Rookie-of-the-Year and two-time championship runner-up Jeremy Doss. The Upper Lake, CA driver is set to throw his hat into the ring, to compete for the 2018 championship.

Doss has only competed in three SPEARS Southwest Tour Series events since 2014, but he closed out the SRL season by winning the “2017 Season Finale 125 presented by Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse San Dimas” at the Bullring @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In doing so, the two-time Pacific Challenge Series (PCS) Champion sets himself up, as one of the drivers to watch, for the 2018 championship. It is an opportunity that the 21 year old competitor looks forward to.

“The Southwest Tour is the most competitive series on the West Coast”, Doss told the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series. “Not only that, it is great to race with 20 plus cars every race. Winning the SRL Championship is definitely an accomplishment that I’d like to check off the list.”

Doss has already checked multiple accomplishments off of his list. Some of those include the Montana 200 at Montana Raceway Park, Senator’s Cup Fall Classic at the “Bullring”, Southern Idaho 200 at Magic Valley Speedway, Fall Spectacular 100 at Redwood Acres Raceway, as well as holding the record for most victories in the PCS, with 19. In addition, he has a third place finish at the Winter Showdown, and qualified fifth at the 2017 Snowball Derby at 5 Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL. He was running in the top five, late in that event, when rear-end issues slowed his effort.

In 2013 and 2014, Doss came up one position short of the championship, but feels the team is ready, and prepared, to make that final leap, to capture his first SRL title.

“I think, in this past year alone, we’ve made huge strides with our program”, Doss ventured. “I owe a lot of that to Terry Senneker, Brannon Earnest and of course my dad, Mike Doss. I feel like with their help, along with the entire JD Motorsports crew, we have a really good shot at the championship this year.”

If there is one track that could put Doss over the top, in the championship hunt, it would be the Bullring at LVMS. Doss won three of four Super Late Model events that he entered at the “Bullring” last season, with a worst finish of second at the “Senators Cup”. With two $10,000 to win events, thanks to David Mulcahy with Retro Custom Metals, the opportunity to gain valuable championship points will be amplified, with a large field.

“I always look forward to the Vegas races”, Doss volunteered. “The Bullring is my favorite track on the Tour. With both of those races being $10K to win, I wouldn’t be surprised to see 30 plus cars, at each of those events. It’d be pretty cool to come away with $20K from those two events!”

The Northern California hotshoe will be supported by Senneker Performance, Earnest Performance, Swift Springs and S&S Sports Enterprises, in his championship effort. That effort will begin on March 24th, at Madera Speedway. It is a track that Doss has learned to love, while scoring two PCS victories and a Loanmart Pro Late Model win at the one-third mile facility.
