Duplicate Number Overviewadmin
In an effort to better serve our race teams, we have decided to retract our decision on not allowing duplicate numbers on race weekends. As our series grows and the car count increases, we’ve found that not allowing a team to run a duplicate number is a burden on the driver/owner. With that being said, beginning with the November 17th race at Las Vegas, we are going to tryout the following option. If after Vegas, we feel that it worked, we will implement it as a standard for the 2019 season.
Duplicate Number Overview
We will allow two duplicate car numbers to run the entire 2019 race season. The car owner that currently owns that number will have the first opportunity to renew the number by February 15, 2019. We will allow a duplicate number to be reserved and will be required to run an “X” after the car number.
Furthermore, we will allow a third duplicate car number to run a maximum of three races in 2019, after which the car owner will need to change their car number. This policy is to allow visiting cars to come race a “handful” of times and not have to spend the time and money switching their car number.
Race control will decide how each of the duplicate car numbers will be recognized during the race and share that identification during the driver’s meeting. For example, if there are three #4’s and all three are different colors, race control can recognize them as #4 Red, #4 Black and #4 White. Another example if all three cars are the same color, race control may decide to recognize those cars by their last name, i.e. #1 Wilson, #1 Jones, #1 Smith.
We apologize to those that have been required to change their car number during this season. Our goal is to take care of our race teams and provide the best service we can. Sometimes in order to provide that high level of service, policies change due to unforeseeable issues. Thank you for your understanding and consideration and if you have any feedback/input please feel free to respond to this email.
