Eric Holmes has entered the 2019 Winter Showdown

Eric Holmes has entered the 2019 Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway on February 1-2. The three-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Champion owns 17 victories in that series, nine NASCAR Southwest Tour Series wins and three Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series triumphs. In addition, Holmes was the winner of the Toyota All-Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway in 2004. Holmes will be looking to add another huge win to his resume.

Holmes entry brings the total number of pre-entries to 47, as of Thursday, January 24. This will be Eric’s fourth attempt at bringing home the $30,000 winner’s share, of the $150,000 purse. His previous best effort was last year’s 12th place finish, but he has reason to believe that 2019 will be his best chance to win yet.

“The Winter Showdown has definitely become a very prestigious race, and a race I look forward to every year”, Holmes told the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series. “I’m really excited about this year. The Eric Lee Nascimento Team purchased a new FURY Race Cars ride, and it would mean a lot to me, and the team, to win the Showdown.”

The three-time $10,000-to-win Madera Speedway Short Track Shootout winner, is making one of his infrequent starts behind the wheel. Holmes is thankful for the opportunity to compete with some of the best Super Late Model drivers in the country, in a car prepared by a close group of friends.

“I definitely want to thank Eric, Mike ,Paul and everyone that helps with this team”, Holmes began. “Everyone works hard, and we always go to win, and we make sure we have fun doing it. This is one of the few races I get to race, because of my busy schedule driver coaching and spotting.”

The 2019 Winter Showdown will get underway with an optional practice day on Thursday, January 31st. On Friday’s “51 FIFTY Energy Drink Opening Night”, the Super Late Models will have two practice sessions. “Winter Showdown Qualifying Controlled by Traffic Management Inc.” will also take place on Friday, which will lock the top-30 into the Feature Event. Those drivers outside the top-30, and not receiving Provisionals, will participate in the “Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse Last Chance Race”, which will fill positions number 31-34, in the 36 car “Spears Manufacturing Winter Showdown 300” field.

Friday night will also feature qualifying and the “Motor City Buick GMCSuper Stock Showdown”, featuring two 30 lap segments, for the Kern County Raceway Super Stocks. The SPEARS Manufacturing Modified Series will also be on hand for practice, and a 20 lap All-Star Race.

Saturday February 2nd, will open with the SPEARS Manufacturing Modified Series Practice, followed by Qualifying. The Modifieds will then race for 75 laps, in the “51 FIFTY LTM Energy Drink Showdown”. The Super Late Models complete the show with the $150,000, $3,000-to-start, thanks to the Speed51.com – Coors Light Bonus, Fifth Annual “SPEARS Manufacturing Winter Showdown 300”.
