Eric Holmes Rejoins Nascimento Motorsports for the Retro Custom Metals 137

The entry list for the Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series “Retro Custom Metals 137”, just keeps getting more and more impressive for the November 21st event at the LVMS Bullring and Dirt Track. The Nascimento Motorsports Team has announced that three-time ARCA Menards Pro Series West Champion Eric Holmes, has been selected to drive their Super Late Model. Holmes and the Nascimento Team have a long history together, and have had success in the past, scoring three victories in the $10,000-to-win Short Track Shootout at Madera Speedway, in their Late Model.

The nine-time NASCAR Southwest Tour Series winner also possesses three SPEARS Southwest Tour Series victories.  His NASCAR SWT win in the All-Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway was one of the biggest of his career.  It is a career that includes Southwest Tour wins in the October Classic at Mesa Marin Raceway and a victory at ISM Speedway in Phoenix, AZ.  His 17 “West Series” wins also includes a victory at ISM Speedway.

Holmes last near full-time effort was in 2013, in the ARCA Menards Pro Series West. He has had sporadic starts in Pro Late Models and Super Late Models over the years since, but he has still shown the ability to run up front and win. In 2020, Holmes has only one start, at the SRL “Sunrise Ford All-Star Showdown”, in the Nascimento Motorsports Super late Model.  He finished 24th after electrical issues sidelined the driver, who calls Escalon, CA his hometown. Holmes hopes to get up to speed quickly, after a summer of coaching and spotting. He will also have a secret weapon on the pit box for the weekend.

“I’m really excited to be able to get back in the SRL car, and it’s great to see all the cars on the entry list. Holmes stated. “It has been a really busy race season for me, spotting and driver coaching Hailie Deegan in the ARCA series . I haven’t driven a car since February, but I’m sure we will be competitive. With Ty Joiner coming to help us out, I think we can be in contention for a win.”

Holmes is thankful for the opportunity to participate in the penultimate event of the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series season. He is also thankful to get back together with his long-time friends back in California, as he acknowledged.

“I have to thank Eric Lee Nascimento, for having me drive the car, and the whole Nascimento family for working their butts off, getting the car ready. Living in South Carolina now, I miss racing with these guys and I’m sure we will have a good time racing in Vegas.”

The “Retro Custom Metals 137” will be run on November 21st, with $10,000 going to the winner thanks to David Nava Mulcahy (Homie) and “Winner’s Bonus” sponsors Tilton Engineering and MPI – Max Papis Innovations. The Spears Modified Series will join the SRL in the event, for the “OPTIMA Batteries 75 presented by “FAST – Fuel Air Spark Technology”. Practice will begin on Friday the 20th, with three sessions for the Modifieds, beginning at 3:00 pm (PST), with the Super Late Models at 3:45 pm (PST). Three alternating sessions each will be held, ending at 7:30 pm.

Saturday will find the Super Late Models Final Practice occurring from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm. The Modifieds will practice from 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm. SRL Qualifying is scheduled for 3:00 pm followed by the Modifieds. The Last Chance Qualifier will follow, with feature events rolling off thereafter. There will be a halfway break on lap 68 for the SRL Super Late Models.
