For the first time in his racing career…

For the first time in his racing career, Buddy Shepherd will make a start, in Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series competition, at Irwindale Speedway. The young 20-year-old chauffer is coming off a second place effort in his last “Tour” start at Kern County Raceway and would love to pick up one more position to take home $5,000, thanks to the “Winner’s Bonus” from Earnest Performance.

Along with Jeremy Doss, Shepherd is one of the dominant drivers in the MAVTV Madera Speedway Pro Late Model Division. The two-time Nut Up Pro Late Model Series Track Champion opened the 2020 Madera season with a Club Pro Late Model win, and followed it up by winning the Nut Up, MAVTV televised feature, a few weeks later. He also has a SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series victory at the track.

Shepherd is also proficient at the 1/2-mile facilities. He has a Late Model Track Championship at Kern County Raceway, where he swept the season. He set the Fast Time, for the prestigious Winter Showdown in 2018, and finished runner-up to NASCAR Cup star Kyle Busch. He hopes that experience will transfer over to the 1/2-mile at Irwindale in the “Spears Manufacturing 100 presented by Earnest Performance”.

Shepherd will bring a SRL finishing average of 6.1 into the July 18th event. That number is good for fifth all-time (minimum of 10 starts) in series history. If you can’t be in attendance at Irwindale, to see Buddy attempt to improve that average, check out all the action live, at www.SpearsRacing.TV. A great field of SPEARS Southwest Tour Series Super Late Models is expected.
