Garcia Racing Team and McGhee

Garcia Racing Team and McGhee

Christian McGhee has had a frustrating season, despite being fast and having multiple strong finishes in 2020. The 2016 Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series Rookie-of-the-Year was planning a full-on assault on the SRL Championship in 2020, but Covid-19 and other circumstances put the Kibosh on those plans. As a result, the Garcia Racing Team and McGhee decided to debut a brand new FURY Race Cars Super Late Model a few months ago at Irwindale Speedway. The team has shown even more potential since that debut, and will be a threat to win the “FAST – Fuel Air Spark Technology 110 presented by COMP Cams” at Kern County Raceway on December 19th.

McGhee’s first SRL race, behind the wheel of their new whip, was at the October Classic at Kern County Raceway. The team showed great speed throughout the weekend, qualifying fourth and finishing third at the conclusion. McGhee chased Derek Thorn and Jace Hansen to the finish line, while possibly showing the best speed over the closing laps of the event. The team will rely on that experience, at the October Classic, to improve this weekend’s result.

McGhee will be anticipating a strong run in this weekend’s event, as he has three top-four finishes in his last four SRL starts at Kern County Raceway. Overall, he has four top-five and seven top-10 results in 10 championship starts at Kern. The driver from Claremont, CA will be making series start number 28 which will find him tied for 43rd all-time in series history.

This weekend, the Garcia Racing Team will be looking to get McGhee his first series win. With the speed they have shown, and the new Fury Race Car, there is little doubt the team will be a strong contender. Christian is sponsored by Western Concrete Pumping, Inc., All Pro Coatings, Mr. Crane, WALLACE SIGN COMPANY, J&M Racing, Tri-J Industries, Body Personal Trainer, and Robertson’s.

The “FAST 110 presented by Comp Cams” on December 19th will be the final event of the 2020 season for the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series. Derek Thorn will earn his fifth SRL Championship at the single day event for the Super Late Models. The “Tour” cars will be joined by the Spears Modified Series and the Pro Late Models for a full day of action. For those unable to attend, SpearsRacing.TV will broadcast the event live and it will be show on a delayed basis on MAVTV.
