  1. TIRES: The MT 200 is an eight tire race. American Race AR153’s may be purchased from MVSO anytime starting Thursday. Qualifying/Race Tires must remain in impound until released by an official. Qualifying Tires will be released Friday before the first practice, the four tires you qualify on, you will also use for your heat race and start of the MT200. Your four qualifying tires must be returned to impound at the end of Friday night’s heat race.

 

  1. COURTESY TECH: On Thursday, there will be a Courtesy Tech inspection from 1pm to 5pm, to address any issues you may need to work on before Friday. Optional SLM Practice 2:00 – 5:00pm

 

  1. PER-TECH FRIDAY: A Pre-Tech inspection will take place Friday from 10:30am to 3:30pm, all cars are required to roll through inspection before 3:30pm.  If you were able to roll through on Thursday, you may not be required to roll though on Friday.  Note, these inspections are a service to the teams so we can limit any issues in Qualifying and Race Day Tech.

 

  1. QUALIFYING TECH – ON THE GROUND: All SLM’s are to be on the ground ready to roll to Tech at 4pm sharp – An official will direct to the Tech Line, if your car is not on the ground ready to roll at 4pm, you will get the slowest of your two qualifying laps – legitimate mechanical issues will be considered if an official is notified in advance. You have been warned – it’s in your hands, the rules and policies of this event are for everyone to follow.

 

  1. PITS GATES: Each day there will be a posted time when the Pit Gate Officially Open.  With camping made available inside the pit area, gates are essentially always open, so you may arrive early to work on your car if necessary, prior to the gates official opening.

 

  1. SPOTTERS: A spotter must be utilized any time your car is on track.  Mandatory – Spotters are required to scan Race Control at 467.8750.

 

  1. TRANSPONDERS: All Transponders must be mounted 16” c-to-c behind rear axle, mounted vertically. Transponders are mandatory for all practice sessions. 

 

  1. STARTS/RESTARTS: Leader controls the start/restarts. Once the leader goes in the designated start/restart area the green flag is waved – The leader must win the drag race to the start/finish line. See more details in the “2025 Big 5 Series Race Procedures”.

 

  1. CAUTIONS: Caution laps do not count.  Restart positions are set based on the last completed green flag lap, with those who were the cause of the caution or were collected in the incident will restart at the tail of the lead lap or down cars, depending on if they are lead lap. Rough driving penalties may apply.

 

  1. IMPOUND: Cars will be impounded after qualifying on Friday.

 

  1. MT200 RACE FORMAT:
  • 200 lap event.
  • Starting lineup will be a based on Heat Race Results and LCQ.
  • Eight tire race.
  • Double file restarts, only the leader may choose inside or outside on the restarts.
  • Break on the Front Straight-away at or around Lap 100 for Fuel, Tires and Adjustments.

BREAK: At the half-way break, teams will have a set amount of time to make adjustments and fuel the car. 

  • Once all the cars are stopped for the break, a signal will be given when the crews can go to the cars. Must wait for the horn signal before going to or touching the car.
  • Maximum 5 crew members to service the car.
  • Car may only be jacked up one side at a time (jack stand mandatory if anyone goes under the car).
  • Only bring your four change tires to the front straight-away.
  • Teams must have a manned fire extinguisher while fueling the car.

 

  1. POST RACE LEFT SIDE %: Cars must meet the 58.0% Left side weight after the race.

 

  1. DECALS: All required decals must be in place to pass tech inspection.

 

  1. THREE-WIDE: If you make a move to the inside to make it three wide and an incident occurs you will likely be penalized for rough driving.

 

  1. STARTING LINE UP / PROVISIONALS: Fastest 20 cars in qualifications will be split into Odd and Even Heat races – straight up. Results from the Heats will set the Top 20 starting positions. Cars outside the Top 20 from Qualifying will compete in the Last Chance Qualifier, with the Top 4 transferring to the MT200 – positions 21-24.    Positions 25 & 26 go to Montana Big 5 Super Late Model Series Provisional’s, awarded to the highest ranking drivers in the top 20 in points whose car did not qualify for the MT200, through time or the LCQ.  If the Provisionals are not used, then positions will come from the LCQ.

 

  1. QUALIFYING DRAW & TEAM DINNER: Following Practice on Thursday, there will be a Team Dinner and Qualifying Pill Draw at “The Shoe” on the lake in Polson. If a driver or team is not present, we will draw for you.
