Jeremy Doss Continues Winning Ways in SPEARS Pro Late Model at Irwindale Speedway

Bakersfield, CA – Jeremy Doss is three for three in the SPEARS Pro Late Model Series presented by Sigma Performance Services, as he withstood a furious mid-race battle with Tyler Reif, and then held off fellow Kulwicki Driver Development Program participant Dylan Zampa, to win the “Spears Manufacturing 75 presented by OPTIMA Batteries” at Irwindale Speedway. Doss took the lead from Zampa for the final time on lap 45 and was able to pull away slowly before a late race caution bunched the field for one last run to the finish.

Doss started in the fifth position and methodically worked his way to the front of the field as Tanner Reif led the first six laps over his brother Tyler, after a three-lap side by side battle. As Tanner began to fade, Dylan Zampa made his way to second, with Kyle Meyer up to third by lap 14. Doss made the move by Tanner two laps later and took up the chase of Meyer. On lap 22 he dispatched of Meyer as Tyler Reif and Dylan Zampa ran nose to tail.

On lap 27 Anthony Mainella spun and hit the wall in Turn #3. The result closed the field and Doss drove under Zampa on the restart, as the Young Gun fell to fourth behind Mike Weimann, while his mount began to smoke. On lap 31, Robbie Hornsby and  Seth Wise spun to bring out the next caution. The ensuing restart found Reif pulling out to the lead with Dylan Zampa back to third, as Weimann and fast qualifier Jeffery Peterson battled for position.

By lap 34 Doss was applying heavy pressure to Tyler Reif for the lead. On lap 39, Doss was able to wrestle the lead from Reif, but Reif fought back, leading lap 43 with an inside move. Doss again fought back however and returned the favor two laps later, battling side by side for the next three laps. Once cleared, Dylan Zampa turned up the wick and cleared the younger Reif two laps later.

A final restart, after a Ryan Pannone spin on lap 62, found Doss pulling away from the field, with Logan Zampa and Dylan Reif battling for the runner-up spot. Reif led lap 65, with Zampa battling back on lap 71. Logan Zampa battled with Seth Wise for fourth, with Wise getting by to finish inside the top-five. Zampa settled for fifth. Mike Weimann, Mike Lovell, Tanner Reif, Jake Bollman Racing and Parker Malone rounded out the top-10.

Doss took home another $3,000 for the day, for a total of $25,500 in winnings in 2021, and a sweep of the 2021 season thus far. Doss and the SPEARS Pro Late Models Series presented by Sigma Performance Services will now make a return trip to Stockton 99 Speedway on May 1st, where Doss won $7,500 just two weeks ago. He will look to run his winning streak to four and strengthen his championship lead on the rest of the series competitors.
