Johnny Sauter and Wauters Motorsports Head to the “Rattler 250”

 
Bakersfield, CA – 2016 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion and three-time NASCAR Xfinity winner Johnny Sauter has entered the SRL National Hardee’s Rattler 250” at South Alabama Speedway. The 47th edition of the event will be held on March 17-19 at the 4/10-mile speedway in Opp, AL. It will be Sauter’s first trip to the short track, and he will be driving for the vaunted Richie Wauters Motorsports team, in their familiar orange, black, and white Super Late Model. They will be racing for a record purse of nearly $94,000 and a $25,000 win.
The 2001 ASA National Tour champion opened his 2023 season with Wauters with a second place run in the “Redeye 50/50” at New Smyrna Speedway (FL). He attended “SpeedFest” at Watermelon Capitol Speedway (GA), but finished a disappointing 20th. His appearance at the “World Series of Asphalt Stockcar Racing” at New Smyrna Speedway found the team very competitive, but with finishes outside the top-10 at the end of the night. The seven-time ARCA Midwest Tour Series, and 24-time NASCAR Truck Series winner will now head to South Alabama Speedway, looking to get back on track and get back to the front.
The “Rattler 250” will take place from March 17th to 19th. It will pay $25,000 to the winner and $12,500 to second. $1,600 will be paid to those who make the starting field of 30, with $1,000 going to the Fast Qualifier. Nearly $94,000 will be paid out over the weekend for the Super Late Models. It is the first time the event has been sanctioned by the SRL National and will be Round #2 of the season series. Over 30 Super Late Models are already entered for the event. For those unable to attend, the race will be broadcast LIVE on Racing America, with a subscription to RacingAmerica.TV.
Friday evening will see feature action for the Mini-Sportsman, Mini-Cups, Coyotes, Cuplites, and Super Stocks. Saturday night will see features for the Modifieds, Road Runners, and the “Baby Ratter 125” for the Pro Late Models. The three-day event will be capped off by the 47th Annual “Hardee’s Rattler 250”, scheduled to roll off at 2:00 PM.
