Lupton is coming off a fifth-place finish, NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series

Dylan Lupton is coming of a fifth-place finish, in Thursday’s NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series News Event at Kentucky Motor Speedway, in the “Buckle Up Your Truck 225”. Coincidentally in the 2019 season opener for the Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series at Irwindale Speedway, he also scored a fifth-place result after 100 laps of competition. The Wilton, CA driver will be looking for just a little more, when the series hits Irwindale for the “RJ Allen Inc. 100 presented by Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse San Dimas” on July 20th.

For Lupton, the return trip to Irwindale will be like a home coming, in regards to his racing career. Lupton is a former track champion at the facility and counted four victories in his Late Model in 2011, finishing third in the standings. During his last SRL visit, Lupton set a New Track Record at the facility, before finishing fifth in the feature.

“I love racing at Irwindale Speedway”, Lupton told the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series. “It feels like home for me. Early in my racing career I crafted my skills of stock car racing at Irwindale and learned from some of the best drivers there. We had great speed last time we raced at Irwindale, until it came race time. When they applied more PJ-1 to the track after qualifying, it hurt the balance of our racecar. Going into this weekend, we have good notes and a plan to be able to fight for the win.”

When Lupton returns to Irwindale, he knows he will face a tough field of drivers, with over 25 Super Late Models expected from all over the west coast. It is the competition that Lupton enjoys, and feels that the fans will also.

“The SRL Series is a very competitive series, which makes it so fun”, Lupton surmised. “Fans are always going to be in for a great night of hard racing, when they come out to an SRL race.”

With Lupton returning to his racing roots, the two-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series West winner, and 2014 championship runner-up, sees his NASCAR career heating up. In his only two 2019 NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series starts, he has finished in the top-10 both times. His most recent event in the top-five, in the DGR-Crosley RacingToyota Tundra. With Dylan’s recent success, the 25-year-old driver hopes to get an increased workload in the “Truck” Series.

“So far, the first two races that I have ran in the Truck Series, have been great. DGR-Crosley has given me a great opportunity to fully show my potential on the national stage. We’re hoping that we can turn this part time schedule into a full-time ride for 2020”, Lupton estimated.

But the next order of business, however, is for Lupton to get his first SPEARS Southwest Tour Series win, at a track he is very excited to return to. The victory would be worth $5,000, thanks to the “Winner’s Bonus” sponsored by Performance Friction Brakes. That opportunity is brought about by those that get the car to the track and those that support the talented driver.

“I have to thank all my crew guys for the hard work and sacrifices they make to get us to the track”, Lupton expressed. “I want nothing more than to pay them back with a win at Irwindale Speedway.”

Lupton continued, “I’d also like to thank Fatal Clothing for their continued support, as well as Lupton Excavating and VanDoorn Racing Development Chassis’.”
