Bakersfield, CA – Cale Kanke, the son of 2009 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series champion M.K. Kanke, will make his SPEARS Southwest Tour Series driving debut at Irwindale Speedway on June 6th.   RPM Motor Sports will have two entries in the upcoming “Spears Manufacturing 100 presented by Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse” at Irwindale Speedway.

“I’ve been looking forward to driving one of these cars for as long as I can remember, I grew up traveling to all of the ’Tour’ races,” stated Cale Kanke. “I’m grateful to Dan and Kathy (Nikolai) for this opportunity to not only run the car, but also able to run with my dad.

Mike Bonicelli, former crew chief for M.K. Kanke, will act as crew chief for Cale. Another former SRL Legends champion, Darren Amidon will be the team’s spotter.

“The whole team is just one big family and its going to be a lot of fun on June 6th to hear my name announced along with all of the other SPEARS Southwest Tour Series drivers, especially my dad’s. Cale Kanke added.

M.K. Kanke is one of the winningest drivers in Southwest Tour history and is the all-time SPEARS Southwest Tour Series win leader at Irwindale Speedway.

“I’m looking forward to it,” stated M.K. Kanke. “It’s going to be pretty cool to be out there with both Cale and I racing together. Cale has run his legends car, then moved to the dirt modified, so this will be his next step. “

The RPM Motorsports team will test before the June 6th event to get the younger Kanke some seat time at the track that his dad has had a lot of success at during his 33 year racing career.

“Cale has always wanted to run a tour car and Irwindale has always been a good track for us, so we’ll see how it goes.” Kanke added.

The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series will roll into Irwindale Speedway on Friday , June 5th for an open practice day in preparation for the “Spears Manufacturing 100 presented by Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse” on June 6th, the fourth race of the 2015 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series championship season.
