New Hite

New Hite

Michael Hite is scheduled to make his first career Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series start, when the series heads to the Irwindale Event Center for round five of the championship season. The “SPEARS Southwest Tour 100 presented by Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse San Dimas” will take place on July 14th, and will also be Hite’s first trip to Irwindale Speedway.

Hite, from Elk Grove, CA, is a veteran of the Pacific Challenge Series, making 32 starts over the last five seasons, in his Super Late Model. His last start was at Shasta Speedway, were he finished fifth on June 23rd. In his only full season with the series, Hite finished sixth in the championship standings in 2015.

Heading to Irwindale, Hite hopes to gain familiarity with tracks larger than the one-quarter to three-eighths mile tracks, that he is used to. He also has realistic expectations for his first trip to the facility, competing against a field that is expected to exceed 25 Super Late Models.

“We are looking to gain some big-track experience, and a trip to Southern California, with a facility like Irwindale, seems like the best fit”, Hite told the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series. “As far as our expectations go, a top-15 would be awesome, given that I have never ran on a track of this size. We have a lot to learn as a team, with this VanDoorn Racing Development clip we put on the car. But we are very happy with it, after the first time out at Shasta Speedway.”

Hite will take on a full field of Super Late Model racers, which includes 10 Super Late Model championships, dozens of track championships and 16 competitors with Touring Series victories. In doing so, Hite hopes to gain valuable experience with some of the best drivers on the West Coast.
