Peltier Pursues First Kern County Raceway Park Victory

 
Bakersfield, CA – Preston Peltier will make his tenth career Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series championship event start this weekend, when the series visits Kern County Raceway Park (CA) for the “Bulwark ‘FR October Classic 150”. Peltier is a two-time winner in the series, but he will be looking for his first win on the Bakersfield, CA ½-mile.
Peltier has 2021 victories in the “Sunrise Ford All Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway, the Pro Late Model portion of the Summer Showdown at Evergreen Speedway (WA) as well as the NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 208 at Meridian Speedway (ID). His three Super Late Model wins in the Summer Showdown lead all drivers, as does his five wins in the Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC). He has wins in the “Colorado Challenge Cup” at Colorado National Speedway (CO) the Fall Open Comp at the LVMS Bullring and Dirt Track (NV), as well as the “Chilly Willy 150” at Tucson Speedway. (AZ).
But the newly returned Colorado driver has yet to score a victory at Kern County Raceway. In five Winter Showdown starts, his best run was a third in 2019. He has also scored fourth place runs twice at Kern, and a fifth in the inaugural Winter Showdown. His lone October Classic start was in 2020, where he battled with Derek Thorn Racing and Jace Hansen for the lead, but fell out with a flat tire two-thirds of the way through the event. The 2010 PASS South and PASS National Super Late Model Series Champion will look to change that this weekend and take home $10,500 for his efforts, thanks to the Motor City Throwdown.
25 Super Late Models are currently entered in the final championship race of the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series schedule. The winner could take home $10,500 in the two segmented race, thanks to the Motor City Throwdown Bonus of $3,500. All drivers will be eligible for the bonus, that was offered to beat Derek Thorn. The event will also feature a “Throwback Theme for the competitors, with the best scheme taking home a set of Hoosier Tires, thanks to Hoosier Tire West.
Qualifying and three positioning Heat Races will proceed the “Bulwark ‘FR October Classic 150”. The Super Late Models will be joined by the Spears Manufacturing Pro Late Models presented by Sigma Performance Services who will race for $5,400 in the “Sigma Performance 54”. The Spears Modified Series will compete for a $2,500 winner’s check in the “Visit Bakersfield 60”.
