Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse to Sponsor Last Chance Race at Winter Showdown

Bakersfield, CA – Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse of Colton and San Dimas has announced that they will sponsor the Last Chance Race at the 2016 Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway, in Bakersfield.

With over fifty drivers attempting to qualify for the 36 car-starting field for the February 28th Winter Showdown 250, the ”Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse Last Chance Race” will be the final opportunity for three drivers to make the big show.

“Glenn and everyone at Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse have been big supporters of the race teams over the years,” stated the SRL’s Brian Olsen. “This is another example of good people pulling together to make this event great.”

The format to qualify for the Winter Showdown will begin with single car qualifying at 5pm on Saturday, February 27th.   The fastest 12 drivers from qualifying are locked into the Winter Showdown 250, with the fastest driver claiming a $2,000 cash bonus. The top 12 qualifiers will then compete in the Fast Heat to determine the top 12 starting positions for Sunday’s 250. Positions 13 to 31 set will be by the Race For Autism Qualifying Races, in which the balance of the field will be split into two Qualifiers, with the top 9 finishers from each Qualifier will be in the show. The drivers finishing outside the top 9 of Saturday night’s Qualifiers will then have one more opportunity to make the field by finishing in the top 3 in Sunday’s “Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse – Last Chance Race”. Positions 35 –and 36 will be set by provisionals.

An interesting twist to the “Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse Last Chance Race” is that with ten laps to go, the yellow flag will be displayed and the top three cars in the transfer positions will leave the track to get ready for the Winter Showdown 250. The cars left on the track will then race a 10-lap shootout for the win and $2,000.

The Winter Showdown week will begin with a Kick-off Party presented by Visit Bakersfield on Thursday evening, February 25th starting at 5pm, at the TEMBLOR Brewing Company at 3200 Buck Owens Boulevard in Bakersfield. The teams will undergo tech inspection on Friday, with Super Late Model practice that evening.

Saturday, February 27th is “51 FIFTY Energy Drink Opening Night” featuring Super Late Model qualifying at 5pm, with racing at 6pm with the Lucas Oil Modified Series, featuring an 80 lap main event plus Race For Autism Qualifying Races. On Sunday, February 28th the day will start with the “Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse Last Chance Race” at 12:30pm, followed by the $30,000 to win “Winter Showdown 250” for the Super Late Models.
