For Immediate Release: SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series Media
Bakersfield, CA – Irwindale Speedway is a special place for Scott Sanchez, as it is the location of his record-breaking event back in 2011. It is a record that has lived on for a decade now. “The Chez” has been a staple of the series since its first season in 2001. He has 112 Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series starts, sitting only one start behind all-time leader Jacob Gomes. The Livermore, CA transplant has his career best finish at the ½-mile oval as well, it was during that memorable record-breaking weekend 10 years ago. Sanchez will now return to the scene of the feat in next weekend’s “SaltedMetals 100 presented by Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse” on July 17th.
That special race was the “Canidae Classic 110”. Sanchez started 29th in the field, on a rain delayed Sunday afternoon. He drove his way up to a fourth-place finish, improving 25 positions. Sanchez also has the distinction of having the longest current streak of events attended. He will improve that number to 45 this weekend. At Irwindale he has 17 career starts, but is still looking for his second top-five at the “Dale”. The low budget racer would love to pick that up this weekend.
Over his career Sanchez scored a career best three top-10’s in 2014, including a fifth-place finish at the LVMS Bullring and Dirt Track. In 2016, he served on the crew for Derek Thorn’s SRL Championship winning effort with Campbell Motorsports. He also has three top-10 championship efforts in the series and will be looking for his fourth in 2021. He currently sits 12th in the standings but will be looking to move up in this weekend’s Round #7.
Sanchez would like to thank David Mulcahy, Salted Metals, Gibson Crane LLC, Via Heart Project, Melo Transportation, and of course the lady who keeps him from being too trim on the scales, Michele Burrow.
The “Salted Metals 100 presented by Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse” will see the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series visit Irwindale Speedway for the 21st-time its history. $10,000 will be on the line for the winner, thanks to Salted Metals and David Mulcahy. The Spears Modified Series as well as the SPEARS Pro Late Model Series presented by Sigma Performance Services will also be on the card for the weekend. Irwindale Speedway’s NASCAR LKQ Pick Your Part Pro Late Models will be on hand as well as the wild and crazy MINI VAN DEMOLITION DERBY. Admission Gates open at 4:00 pm (PST) with Qualifying for the Pro Late Models, Modifieds and Super Late Models immediately following. The Irwindale Speedway LKQ Pro Late Late Models will then run their first of two features. An on-track autograph session is scheduled for 5:45 pm with Main Events kicking off at 7:00 pm.
For those unable to attend, catch all the action LIVE at www.SpearsRacing.TV. The event will also air on MAVTV at a time and date to be announced later.
Celebrating its twenty-first season in 2021, the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series is a regional stock car series competing on paved ovals in the southwestern portion of the U.S. “The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series…Where the Champions Race”.
