Sigma Performance Services Team Get Stronger in Their SRL Bullring Effort

With 44 Super Late Models on the record breaking pre-entry list for the “Retro Custom Metals 137”, as of Tuesday afternoon, November 10th, it will certainly be one of the strongest fields in the history of the Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series. Tuesday evening that field got even stronger, with the announcement from Sigma Performance Services (SPS) owner, Joe Farre’. Farre’ announced that the 2010 PASS South and PASS National Super Late Model Series Champion Preston Peltier, will add his name to the already impressive list.

Peltier is a five-time winner of the Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC), a three-time SUMMER SHOWDOWN winner at Evergreen Speedway (WA) and winner of the World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park (GA). He has a win in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series at Irwindale Speedway, and won the 2019 Senators Cup Fall Classic at the Bullring. In addition, he was the Fast Qualifier in the 2018 Snowball Derby at 5 Flags Speedway, a feat SRL rival Derek Thorn duplicated in 2019. It is that particular event that Peltier is planning to prepare for, at the LVMS Bullring and Dirt Track.

“We are preparing for the Snowball (Derby), but decided that a Vegas run would be a good tune-up session for the Derby”, Farre’ explained.

Peltier will be in the new SPS Peltier Chassis Super Late Model, which made its debut at the October Classic at Kern County Raceway, several weeks ago. The car was fast, setting Fast Time over the 25-car field. The Colorado Challenge Cup winner, at Colorado National Speedway, then pressured four-time SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series Champion Derek Thorn for the lead, throughout the first two-thirds of the race. Unfortunately for Peltier, his efforts ended with a flat tire on lap 64. Still the outing proved to be a success.

Peltier will also be joined by a pair of SPS teammates. Three-time Tucson Speedway Super Late Model Champion Brandon Farrington will be in the teams #25 Super Late Model. Jim Wulfenstein will also be back behind the wheel of the #12. Wulfenstein is a two-time Super Late Model Track Champion at the Bullring.

The “Retro Custom Metals 137” will be run on November 21st, with $10,000 going to the winner thanks to David Nava Mulcahy (Homie) and “Winner’s Bonus” sponsors Tilton Engineering and MPI – Max Papis Innovations. The Spears Modified Series will join the SRL in the event, for the “OPTIMA Batteries 75 presented by FAST – Fuel Air Spark Technology”. Practice will begin on Friday the 20th, with three sessions for the Super Late Models, beginning at 3:45 pm (PST) and ending at 7:30 pm. Saturday will find the Super Late Models practicing from 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm. Qualifying is scheduled for 3:15 pm. The Last Chance Qualifier (if needed) will follow, with feature events rolling off thereafter. There will be a halfway break on lap 68 for the SRL Super Late Models.

For those who can’t attend the event, catch the action live at www.SpearsRacing.TV, with your paid subscription. The event will also be shown on MAVTV and a date to be announced later.

Celebrating its twentieth season in 2020, the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series is a regional stock car series competing on paved ovals in the southwestern portion of the U.S. “The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series…Where the Champions Race”.
