SPANGLER IS BACK

SPANGLER IS BACK

Keith Spangler made his first SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series start of the season, with his new Port City Racecars chassied Super Late Model at Irwindale Speedway. His season debut was a success, in his David Nava Mulcahy owned ride, even though he just missed a top-10, finishing 11th. The Porter Ranch, CA driver raced inside the top-ten for a good portion of the event, but got caught in the wrong lane on a late race restart, dropping him to 11th.

Spangler will now head to Madera Speedway for the “SPEARS Southwest Tour 125 presented by 51 FIFTY LTM” on September 28th. It is a track that has been good to the veteran racer with 12 top-10 career finishes and a best result of fourth. His last two starts have also resulted in top-10 finishes, one of which was a top-five.

The five-time Saugus Speedway Super Late Model winner will then journey to Kern County Raceway‘s October Classic and the “Bulwark Protection 100 presented by Traffic Management, Inc.” The event will feature a “throwback” theme with a Trophy Dash and Heat Races to set the feature line-up. With Spangler’s first October Classic start resulting in a ninth place finish in 1993, will we see a special 1993 theme from the Retro Custom Metals, Spangler Racing, David Homie Mulcahy owned Southwest Tour team? We will find out on October 26th.

The 2019 October Classic will be Spangler’s 10th appearance in the event, and he will be looking for his fifth top-10. He would love to take home the $5,000 winner’s prize, thanks to FLUIDYNE High Performance, and if the situation is right, don’t count the 93-time SPEARS Southwest Tour starter out.

Celebrating its nineteenth season in 2019, the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series is a regional stock car series competing on paved ovals in the southwestern portion of the U.S. “The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series..…Where the Champions Race”.
