SRL Top 10 Countdown – Gomes

Gomes season highlight was his effort at the Irwindale Event Center in August. In a 28 car field, he led 53 laps, and was running second, with 20 laps to go, when a fellow competitor made contact with him and relegated Jacob to a fifth place finish.

The Ironman of the series has now made 81 consecutive starts, and in 2018 he hopes to make that 90, a continuing series record. Gomes has six career victories (tied for 6th all-time), 30 top fives (4th all-time), 4 fast times (tied for 9th all-time) and 52 top ten finishes (4th all-time).

In 2018, Gomes will look to capture his second series championship and have fun, while continuing his move up the series record book, in his Sunny Valley Smoked Meats, Dennis Arbini Chevrolet.

“I am really looking forward to this year”, Gomes said. “We are just going to go as we go, have fun, and try for better results this year. Last year was a bad year for us, as we just struggled so much. I just hope to get it all back together, and go hard this year.”
