The 47th Annual Rattler 250 and the 18th Baby Rattler 125 at South Alabama Speedway Will Pay an Event Record in Prize Moneyadmin
Bakersfield, CA (December 27, 2022) – The 47th running of “The Rattler” will pay a record payout for the event for Super Late Models with $25,000 to the winner and $1,600 minimum for making the starting field. Since 1974, South Alabama Speedway has been the host to “The Rattler 250”, one of the nation’s marquee Super Late Model events. A longstanding fixture on the Super Late Model national scene, the last 25 years have seen the Rattler rise in prominence, due mostly to the hard work and dedication of Promoter John Dykes and his family. For 2023, “The Rattler” will take place on the weekend of March 17-19 and will be sanctioned by the “SRL National Super Late Model Tour”.
We have worked hard with John and his family to ensure that “The Rattler” maintains its position as one of the nation’s marquee Super Late Model events,” stated the SRL’s Larry Collins. “Ricky (Brooks) has been working “The Rattler” for many years and we are proud it is now part of our “2023 SRL National Super Late Model Tour”.
The 18th running of “The Baby Rattler” will also pay a record payout for the event for Pro Late Models with $10,000 to the winner and $800 minimum for making the starting field, thanks to J.R.’s Lawnmower Shop and Rogers-Dabbs Chevrolet. The weekend will also feature several local classes that compete at SAS during the regular season.
The “SRL National Super Late Model Tour” is an expansion of the “SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series” which has sanctioned Super Late Model events on the west coast for over twenty years. In 2022, the ‘SRL National’ sanctioned marque events at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan, Citrus County Speedway in Inverness, Florida, and Mobile International Speedway. The ‘SRL National Tour’ will open its eight race 2023 season with the $25,000 to win “All-Star Showdown” at Southern California’s Irwindale Speedway on January 21st, followed by the “The Rattler” weekend at South Alabama Speedway.
