RON ESAU – THE SOUTHWEST TOUR’S FIRST CHAMPION

Ron Esau claimed the first ever Southwest Tour championship in 1986, driving to four wins in the series inaugural season, leading runner-up Roman Calczynski in the final championship standings 668 to 583.   Ron drove to an 18th place finish in October of 2017 at Kern County Raceway.  In this photo Esau battles Ray Hooper, Jr. at Mesa Marin Raceway in 1989.
