THORN WINS SNOWFLAKE 100

Derek Thorn had a great weekend at 5 Flags Speedway in Pensacola, FL. On Friday night he won the Pole for the Snowball Derby, by just over a tenth of a second. On Saturday night, he has now officially won the Allen Turner Hyundai Snowflake 100 for Pro Late Models. Thorn grabbed the lead with 35 laps to go, and held off Bubba Pollard Fan Page and then Auggie Grill for the win, in the 21st annual event.

Thorn qualified second, earlier in the afternoon behind Grill. He let Grill set the pace, for the majority of the event, and then took the lead in a three-wide battle with Pollard and Grill on lap 65. The four-time SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series Champion was then able to hold the field at bay, the remaining 35 laps. Grill got back by Pollard, and closed in with about 15 laps to go. But Thorn was up to the task, and pulled away for the victory. It was his third Pro Late Model win at the facility, but by far his biggest.
