TONI MCCRAY TO COMPETE IN THE SPEARS SOUTHWEST TOUR
Bakersfield, CA – Current Irwindale Speedway Super Late Model championship leader Toni McCray of Highland, California will make her SPEARS Southwest Tour Series debut when the series returns to the Irwindale ½ mile on Saturday, August 16th.
“We have a brand new car from the ground up and we’re really looking forward to competing with the SRL at the upcoming race at Irwindale and a full season in 2015.” stated McCray.
McCray is having an outstanding 2014 season, competing in both the Late Model and Super Late Model series at Irwindale Speedway. McCray has four straight wins in the Late Model division and a series total five wins. In Super Late Models, McCray is the current championship leader, with one win on the year.
“We’re having a great year, I have a great team, parents, and sponsor (JIMCO Construction) behind me and we’re looking forward to the challenge of the SRL.” McCray added.
For her Late Model and Super Late Model team, as well as her SPEARS Southwest Tour Series team, McCray has brought on Rip Michels as crew chief. Michels is the winningest driver in Irwindale Speedway history and the 2006 NASCAR Southwest Series Elite Division champion.
“Rip is not only knowledgeable, but fun to work with. Rip and Steve (Boldroff) have done a phenomenal job with our race cars and performance. There are a lot of people that work hard and make this possible for me.”
