TOP 11 COUNTDOWN – TRACY BOLIN

TOP 11 COUNTDOWN – TRACY BOLIN

By Kevin Peters

As our Top 11 countdown continues, we reach the 4th place position in the Spears Spears Srl Southwest Tour <https://www.facebook.com/spearssrl.tour>  Series Points Standings. Valley Springs California driver Tracy Bolin currently sits only 50 points out of the championship lead and 20 markers out of second. Tracy is a veteran of the series with 72 career starts (2nd all-time) dating back to the 2003 season. His 37 Top 10 finishes rank him 9th all-time. In his career he has finished in the Top 10 in Series points 6 times.

Tracy debuted a new perimeter chassis car at the 2015 Spears SRL Southwest Tour Series Winter Showdown <https://www.facebook.com/pages/Winter-Showdown/751949664879103>  held at Kern County Raceway. The Open Show for Super / Tour Late Models boasted a purse of over $125,000 and a winners share of $25,000. Tracy qualified 18th in the star studded field of 52 drivers and finished 8th in his qualifying heat to place him 22nd on the starting grid. The event got off to a slow start for Tracy as they struggled with the handling of the new car. Tracy would eventually finish 18th after being collected in the big wreck on lap 134 and eventually completing 159 laps.

The first half of the points season would prove to be an up and down one for Tracy. It got underway at Madera Speedway in March where Tracy battled his way to a 3rd place finish. Kern County Raceway would prove to be a down, as he finished 15th, two laps down. He rebounded very nicely at his home track of Stockton 99 Speedway with a strong 3rd place finish leaving him only 12 points out of the lead.

The final race of the first half of the schedule was at Irwindale Speedway. Last year Tracy had a nice Top 10 finish and was looking to repeat that performance. Tracy qualified a disappointing 15th and struggled to a 14th place finish to leave him 4th in the points standings.

The second half of the season gets underway at Redwood Acres Raceway <https://www.facebook.com/redwoodacresraceway> in Eureka, CA on August 1st. This will be Tracy’s first start at the 3/8 mile facility and with the current trend he will be looking for another top 3 finish.
