Vieira Reaches Milestone at Kern’s October Classic

Vieira Reaches Milestone at Kern’s October Classic

The entire staff and ownership group of the Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series would like to send out our congratulations to Carlos E. Vieira!! The 2020 season has been a challenge, due to the Covid-19 concerns in the state of California, but there have been several milestones set during the season. One landmark, that will be achieved at the October Classic at Kern County Raceway, is start #100 for long-time series supporter Carlos Vieira. The Livingston, CA driver will make that momentous start on October 25th, after beginning that journey on April 26th, 2008 at Irwindale Speedway. He will join Jacob Gomes and Scott Sanchez as the only drivers to achieve that mark.

“It’s hard to believe that this will be my 100th start” Vieira explained. “It’s even harder to believe that I am still looking for my first win in this series. I have won Late Model and Super Late Model races, but I have not been able to get it done in this series yet. We have come close many times, but luck has not been on my side in those situations. Either way, I have been having a blast. Besides having fun, like I talk about in my new book “Knockin’ Doorz Down”, racing has  been good for me. It helps keep me out of trouble, and focused on the important things in life. Wins or no wins, I keep coming back because it’s something that I need and want to do for myself.”

Vieira continued, showing both his gratitude for his supporters, and his positivity looking forward, “I want to thank everyone that has helped and supported me over the years. Maybe this 100th start will be that win that I have been chasing, but if it’s not, life is still good, and I’m still blessed.”

Despite not having achieved his goal of winning in the series, he has accumulated 15 top-five and 48 top-10 efforts. The latter is good for sixth all-time. Vieira has also become one of the most consistent competitors over the years, having only failed to see the checkered flag twice over the last three seasons.

As he heads to Kern County Raceway this weekend, Vieira is heading to track at which he has had success. He has three top-five’s with a career best second place run, in 2016. Can he improve that one additional position and bring home his first win? It would certainly make a memorable 100th start in his 51 FIFTY LTM, Allied Packaging Camry.
