WHITE IN FOR SRL OPENER

WHITE IN FOR SRL OPENER

Lucas Oil Modified Series star Linny White will return to a familiar track, when the Spears Srl Southwest Tour Series opens its 2018 season, on March 24th. Madera Speedway will host the opening round for the series, and it is a track on which White has found a great deal of success.

White has Super Late or Late Model Track Championships at the Irwindale Event Center, Orange Show Speedway, Havasu 95 Speedwayand Perris Auto Speedway, the latter on dirt. He has spent the last several years racing in the Lucas Oil Modified (LOM) Series, as well as select Super Late Model, SRL and Late Model Events. In 39 career Lucas Oil Modified starts he has three victories. Of those wins, one was at Madera Speedway. Of his eight LOM starts, at the one-third mile asphalt oval, White has six top five finishes, four of which were in the top two, and only one finish outside the top ten.

He has had even greater success in Super Late Models, winning consecutive Senator’s Cup Fall Classic 150’s, at the Bullring @ Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2015 and 2016. He is fresh off a Winter Series Championship, in the Sigma Engineering Solution Late Models at Havasu 95 Speedway, winning four of six events. He was the 2014 Super Late Model Champion at Irwindale and the 2008 Super Late Model Champion at Orange Show Speedway. On March 10, White made the trip to Madera, to participate in the $5,000 to win Pro Late Model Event. Despite no practice on Friday, and limited practice Saturday, White battled for the lead late in the event. Late contact from another competitor, however, sent him back in the field for an eventual fourth place finish.

This season, White will concentrate on his SRL Super Late Model effort, with car owner Earl Robbins. It is a deal that has been in the making for several seasons, which has finally come to fruition for the driver out of Colton, CA and his long-time car owner.

“My plan is one race at a time, but the car owner has been wanting to race with the SRL for the last two or three seasons, so we are going for it”, White told the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series. “My expectations are always to get the most out of what I got. But the big picture is to try and claim the top spot on the podium!”

White’s efforts will be supported by Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse San Dimas, HPSI, Swift Springs and his car owner Earl Robbins. If history is any indicator, of next weekend’s “Season Opener 125 presented by 51 FIFTY Energy Drink”, White will be tough to beat. But with the large field of SRL Tour cars expected, the winner will have to work hard for the $5,000 winner’s share of the purse.
