UPDATES and REMINDERS – February 3, 2014

Helpful reminders and information as we approach the 2014 season.

TESTING POLICY: There will be no private testing allowed at both Rocky Mountain Raceway and Pikes Peak International Raceway, unless approved by the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series Director.  Also, private testing on the same day of a sanctioned SPEARS Southwest Tour Series ‘Practice Day’ is not permitted.  Otherwise, testing is not restricted.

TIRES: Hoosier 3025 on the left, and 3045 on the right for all scheduled races except Kern County Raceway and Pikes Peak International Raceway. Call Hoosier Tire West to pre-order your tires prior to each race at 559-485-4612.

BAKERSFIELD and PIKES PEAK:  The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series will utilize the Hoosier F45 (left side) and 56* (right side) for the Kern County Raceway and Pikes Peak International Raceway events.

DRIVER PROFILE: Please check your ‘Driver Profile’ on the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series website to be sure the information is up to date.

LICENSE: Please get your license applications in before the first race weekend.

Your ‘SPEARS Southwest Tour Series License’ hard card will not be mailed, but will be available to be picked up at the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series Trailer at Madera.

NUMBERS: Numbers from 2013 will be held until February 8th, at which time all numbers will be available on a first come served basis.

ENGINE TECH: All cars without an SRL engine and carburetor seal in place will be required to have an engine and carburetor inspection before competing. You may have your engine inspected Friday or Saturday before practice at your first race, first come first served. Engine needs to be cold.  PLEASE NOTIFY the series if your car requires engine tech at the Season Opener.

FUEL CELL BLADDER: The manufactures date on your fuel cell bladder must be within 7 years and will be checked at your first race of 2014 – unless you already have an SRL seal and a current date on record.

IMPORTANT – Please have two bolts drilled to accommodate a wire seal on your fuel cell “Fill Plate”, so an SRL Official can install an “SRL Wire Seal”.

FUEL: It is each team’s responsibility to have your own supply of “SUNOCO 110 Standard” at each race.

SOUND LIMITS: The DB rule of the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series is maximum 95dba at 100 feet at all tracks, unless the track requirements are under 95dba.  Please do your work in the shop.  Pikes Peak International Raceway will be the only race in 2014 without a sound limit. Note: Exhaust pipe and flange must be flush with body panel.

CONTINGENCY DECAL PACKS: The 2014 Contingency Decal Packages will be handed out at the Friday practice day at Madera on March 14th.  Note: ALL Contingency Decals must be displayed in the proper location to be awarded any and all prize money and points for the event.

TEAM UNIFORMS: The collective appearance of the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series is an important element to the continued movement forward of the series. Team uniforms as simple as colored t-shirts and black jeans – are not mandatory yet, but highly encouraged for everyone associated with your race team.

NAME ON ROCKER PANEL: The driver’s last name is to be displayed on both sides along or just above the rocker panel below the car number in minimum 5” readable letters – per the SRL Rule Book.

SCANNING REQUIRED: It is mandatory that each spotter has a radio (or scanner) that will scan the SRL Race Control frequency at 460.0125

MORE CAR NUMBERS: Your car number is required to be on one headlight and on one taillight/ or bumper cover, minimum three inches in height.

RACE DATE UPDATE:  We are still working on filling the July 26 or October 11 race date.   The new management of Redwood Acres Raceway agreed to host the series, but have requested to move our race off of July 26th due to an annual local car show, to August 2nd – we have not agreed to the date change.  We are also in talks to be part of the Roseville, October 11 K&N Series event.  We will keep you updated as we move forward.  Our current plan is to sign one date, not both.
